What is True North?

True North is a two-day immersive experience where we examine what it means to be human in a tech-driven world.

Tech offers us greater opportunities and bigger challenges than we've ever had to contemplate before. Come join 2,500 founders, policy makers and creative thinkers, who are charting the future of technology. Come and explore how tech can make us happier and healthier (or not); what makes cities smarter; what will change the future of work and learning, and what citizenship and democracy look like in a data-driven world.

Join us in the heart of Canada’s innovation hub, Waterloo Region, where we have the highest density of quantum mathematicians, the second highest density of startups in the world and an ever increasing density of bars, restaurants and culture to keep you entertained well after the last speaker finishes. Our after hours True North Festival serves up the best of Waterloo Region's hot music, cozy lounges, great eats and cool parties.

So bring your big ideas and keen curiosity to True North 2019. Roll up your sleeves. Plunge into workshops. Marvel at the venue. And help us create the future of Tech for Good.

Here's who spoke at True North in 2018

True North Festival

Waterloo Region is about building cool things together. That’s what we do here. For us, working, playing, helping, giving, celebrating, are all part of the ethos. Maybe we need a word for it, but it’s all at the True North Festival. For True North attendees, it’s like having a savvy local guide to show you all the hidden gems in a new town.
For Waterloo Region’s locals, it’s a way to rediscover the community you thought you knew, and show our international guests what makes this place so extraordinary: You!
With our top-notch universities, research institutes and collaborative culture, our startup scene is one of the fastest-growing tech ecosystems in the world. But it’s people that make Waterloo Region our world-class home.

Tickets

Ticket prices are tiered, so people from organizations of all kinds and sizes can participate. (It’s a “nice Canadian” thing. Go with it.)
